CPC Copyright Policy

Due to the ever-changing nature of copyright laws, CPC has created this copyright policy, which will be subject to changes in copyright law. From now on, CPC will not accept any copyrighted material for commercial use from anyone except the original owner, except in the case where royalties have been paid either to the original artist, the subject of a personal likeness in a photo (release required), or both. CPC will only incorporate this work from legitimate sites where the work is royalty-free, but where the image either requires royalty payment or is in the public domain. CPC strongly advises potential clients to be very careful about what artwork they want to use from royalty-free and public domain sites.

This includes pre-recorded music and sound, scanned images, regular images (to be scanned), any copyrighted photos, drawings, illustrations, logos, and literary material of any kind. However, there are exceptions to this policy due to "fair use" clauses.

Situations under which copyrighted material may be accepted include:

1. Academic work - class projects. This is a typical use of copyrighted material
and is covered by "fair use" clauses. You will be asked to furnish a copy
of the class assignment, and where possible, your student ID.
CPC realizes not all students (especially high school students
and those in lower grades) will have an ID.
CPC may also request the contact information of the school
and the instructor for verification purposes.

2. Non-Profit Organizations. CPC will require proof of your non-profit status,
especially and including documents demonstrating your non-profit status,
including documents showing 501c (3) status.

3. Personal Use. You will be required to demonstrate to CPC
that the copyrighted material in question will be for just that -
personal use only. You may be required to sign a document attesting as such.
